Yankees Quick Hit: Rays 7 Yankees 3

Well, that wasn’t fun.

CC Sabathia didn’t continue the masterful pitching performance streak – though he did have a quality start (seven innings, three runs and 12 strikeouts), the Yankees didn’t sweep the Rays and Curtis Granderson struck out 16 times. Just kidding, it wasn’t 16, it was only four. The struggles with RISP continued as Robinson Cano and Alex Rodriguez left a combined nine runners on base.

David Price improved his record to 8-3 as he held the Yankees to one earned over five innings. They got his pitch count up and he left the game early but again, the Yankees didn’t capitalize on their opportunities with runners in scoring position.

Yep, it was a stellar game all around – that was sarcasm. But it’s okay. The Yankees took two out of three against the Rays and are still within striking distance of first place in the American League East.
